Call for Participation
The Economics and Management School and the Center for Economic Development Research at Wuhan University will host the first annual Chinese Economy Research Workshop on December 12-16, 2017. The main purposes of the workshop are to
• provide training for young scholars who do research on the Chinese Economy
• foster close interactions between junior and senior researchers in the field
Workshop Theme
Each workshop will be focusing on a particular research theme. The topic of this year’s workshop will be Productivity and Growth in China.
Invited Senior Speakers
We have invited four senior scholars who are well-known experts on growth and productivity in China to attend the workshop. Each of them will give a three-hour lecture about their work on China in the morning and be available in the afternoon for individual meetings with workshop participants. The four invited speakers and their tentative schedules are the following:
• December 12, 2017 Michael Song, Chinese University of Hong Kong
• December 13, 2017 Xiaodong Zhu, University of Toronto
• December 15, 2017 Jo Van Biesbroeck, KU Leuven
• December 16, 2017 Loren Brandt, University of Toronto
Presentations by Participants on December 14, 2017
We will allocate one whole day for a selected group of junior researchers to present their papers that are related to the workshop theme. All four invited senior speakers will attend the presentations and provide feedback to the presenters.
Expenses
Registration is free, but participants are expected to cover their own travel and accommodation expenses.

If you are interested in participating in the workshop, please submit your curriculum vitae, and (optional) the research work you would like to present to cedrwhu@gmail.com. All young researchers (including PhD students, postdocs, and junior faculty) are welcome to apply. The submission deadline is Oct 31, 2017.
